Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders was tense during a press conference Friday.
After the reporter introduced himself and revealed his affiliation with CBS Sports, Sanders quickly shut him down before he could ask the coach a question. Sanders explained that his issue stems from something the media has been responsible for in the past, although he did not specify what CBS did.
“CBS, I don’t do anything about CBS,” Sanders said. “Next question. It has nothing to do with you. It is above that. It has nothing to do with you. I have love for you. I appreciate and respect you. I have nothing to do with you. You. They know what they did.”

The reporter noted that he worked with a local Denver affiliate and was not on any national assignment for the network. But the explanation didn’t seem to make Sanders any more acceptable.
SHEDEUR SANDERS SAYS COLORADO IS ‘EVERYONE’S GREAT PEACE’
“You are what you are. CBS is CBS,” Sanders said. “I don’t care about you. I respect you. That’s why I told you that. I look you in the eye like a man. I respect you. I have love for you. But what they did was dirt.”
While it’s still unclear what Sanders was talking about during the exchange, CBS Sports recently put him in what could be considered an awkward position in a press release that featured coaches.
The Buffaloes coach is listed as the second worst coach in the Big 12 Conference entering the 2024 season.
“Sanders’ first season as an FBS coach started with a bang but ended with six straight losses. He created chaos and excitement by talking about the big game and gathering a strong talent to pass. But the foundation has wings — see the offensive line for one example — “as the Buffaloes move on to the Big 12 and face another tough schedule,” the story, published last month, said.
Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham was listed last in the rankings.
It’s also possible that Sanders was referring to a meme that recently surfaced on social media that debunked a video the Colorado football program released. The original video showed Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders throwing a pass from one sideline before the video switched to another sideline player catching the pass for a touchdown.
The video has drawn more than 14 million views as of Friday. However, the way the video was edited caused some to question its authenticity. Several edited versions of the video began circulating online, some mocking the “Darts Only” lyrics.
CBS Sports has finally compiled a list of some of the ads that made fun of Colorado’s first video.
Sanders also contradicted The Denver Post during Friday’s press conference. One of the newspaper writers informed Sanders that he would like to ask him a football-related question, but Coach Prime made it clear that he did not like what had been written before.
“You don’t like us, man. Why are you doing this to yourself?” Sanders asked. “No, I’m serious. Why are you doing this? Like you know you’re not. Like, why are you doing that?”
The Pro Football Hall of Famer continued, demanding an explanation for the apparent errors.
“It would be hard for me to be with someone I don’t like or someone I don’t like. I just ask why? Like why? What did I do?” Sanders repeated.
The reporter responded by telling the coach that he “didn’t do anything.”
“You have to pay the bills, man. You didn’t do anything. That’s not the point. This is a football question,” he said.
The secretary tried to ask a question again, but Sanders continued with his questions.
“But why? I ask you why? … You want me to answer you, so why? … You are always attacked. Like what did we do to you?” Sanders said.

Sanders eventually agreed to discuss the matter with the columnist in private at a later date.
“No, we’ll talk about that when we talk about that. I’ll talk about that with you,” Sanders said.
Colorado makes its debut as a member of the Big 12 Conference Aug. 29 when it took on North Dakota State.
